Introduction
American politics are founded by satisfactory policies in which are able to unite a democracy under the nation. In this course there is 70 chapters in which give attenuated articles and information of different areas and times in politics. It's important while taking this course to acknowledge and challenge concepts that are thrown at you, while grasping the basics of political terms and definitions. While venturing down a robust democracy expect this course to talk about a multi-racial nd less stratified economic society in which Americans are actually heard and acted upon on national policy. This course will also throw in ideas of a equality idea that will also lead to an ideal democracy among the people, one free of prejudice, racism, sexism, xenophobia, and etc.
Signature Assignment

In this critical reading assignment, I was tasked to read three documents relating to the push of woman equality and not just woman equality, but women of color. I really enjoyed this assignment and one of my favorite documents to read was the "United States of America vs. Susan B. Anthony (June 19, 1873). Susan Anthony made very good points and was able to provide ideas that made the male jury and audience question their male privilege's and rights. If a man were to commit the same crime as her they would not receive the same penalty and consequences that she did. I really appreciate that I was able to relate one of the documents to another woman equality reading by Audre Lorde (The Uses of the Erotic), it talks about how women should conquer over male supremacy and tp find ways to become more powerful and triumph over men. This critical reading is my best work put into this class and I'm glad that I'm able to use SLCC'S general education requirements to represent this as a signature assignment in this course.

Reflection
"Reflect on the three most impactful things you read or experienced in this course. Why were they impactful? How did they broaden your thinking about the world? How did they challenge your assumptions? Will you act on this new knowledge? Possibilities for source material include the textbook, the readings and videos for the discussions, or posts and links that your classmates contributed to the discussions. Do NOT use the readings in the Critical Reading and Reflection assignments, because you've already reflected on them."
While I think politics are very important, especially when I am a minority within society, I felt really uneducated then what I initially thought I was and so this course really made me feel challenged in a way that didn't feel complex. But, more in a way that I was able to obtain insightful information and really reflect on policies, movements, terms and etc. I really like that this course was able to challenge me in a way that wasn't bias and really made me feel safe while questioning the Institution that governs American politics. It's important to let ideas sit with me and soak in so that way I am to reflect back on them and I think that helped me a lot while navigating within the course.
One thing I experienced while taking this course, was the ability to critically think while in group discussions. The six very powerful questions was one of my favorite discussions to participate in because it gave me the opportunity to research and ask myself more questions within the topic I looking into. For example, I had talked about covid-19 (which has slowly died down but still remains to be an issue). Covid-19 began spreading in late 2019 and since then has mutated into 3 different variants: covid-19 (main strand), delta, and omicron. There is a vaccine aviable against covid-19 but isn't able to guarantee protection against the virus. In this article I found that scientists are warning that there may be new variants coming our way if we don't act on wearing our masks and having a proper shutdown in the country. To curb the emergence of variants, scientists stress continuing with public health measures such as masking and getting vaccinated. - https://slcc.instructure.com/courses/771565/discussion_topics/4919280
Another thing I experienced while taking this course was my drive for political justice slowly diminished, only because it seemed like there is no hope for change. I hope that doesn't sound pessimistic, I really seek and crave change just as the next person. But, to me there seems to be no change unless we are ALL able to unite and challenge the government that continues to defend white supremacy and not build equal opportunities for those who deserve it. I feel a little discouraged to even act on it because it becomes an issue of "well does it even matter?" and I hate thinking like that. Acknowledging that change takes time, but just how much more do I have to keep waiting, acting, and feeling, in order to strive for the change that I want for not only me but everyone.
