Introduction
Film has been a consistent art and entertainment platform where writers visions come to life. There are many genres that fit into film and each have been considerably praiseworthy. As you dive deeper into film analysis you will begin to discover the hidden symbolism and meaning behind each film whether its subtle or just straight thrown in your face. Film 1070 is a course you can take at Salt Lake Community College and challenges you dive deeper into film representation of minorities and to analyze these films. Representation in film can be seen such as: Black, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, LGBTQ+, and etc. By focusing your view to consider potential misrepresentation of characters embodying one, or a combination, of these identifiers promotes critical thinking, effective communication, and urges you to be more engaged in your communities and the world through shared understanding.
Signature Assignment
I have chosen to bring back a performance piece I did titled “F@@GT!”, this piece was something made to be very personal and was presented in an intimate space with a small audience. “F@@GT!” is the journey of my inner thoughts as a biracial gay man navigating through the LGBTQ+ community in utah, when I am not dancing, I am speaking. Racism and hypersexuality are a major issue that continues to run rampant in the gay community specifically and really have messed with my sense of identity and self-confidence. This issue seemed to be in my face all the time considering that I do live in Utah.

Reflection
The representation of minorities, culture, and gender are slowly becoming more and more prominent within American film. Analyzing American film can engage in conversations that may make some uncomfortable, the idea of being outspoken about these thoughts can result in interesting feedback and opinions. Being able to talk about these representations in film also promote the awareness of issues that run in modern film and how to spot these problems. There are many different types of common stereotypes used in film as well.
